Cory Cormier and Codie Keene founded The True North with a vision of growing a lifestyle that is deeply rooted in them by past and current generations of outdoor enthusiasts. Raised in the heart of Maine, they’ve felt honored to be a part of the northern outdoor experience. It’s their dream to carry on the hunting and fishing traditions that are an irreplaceable piece of the outdoor culture. The True North aims to share and grow a legacy that all men and women of the outdoors can call their own.
Cory and Codie grew up being avid sportsmen. Whether it was hunting and fishing with family and friends, or turkey hunting before school, being outdoorsmen has always been a way of life. Growing up in Poland, Maine, they were fortunate to be surrounded by the beautiful lakes, streams, and woodlands that the area had to offer. Along the way, they’ve cherished every moment spent in the outdoors and value the many lessons learned.
During their college experience where they were roommates at WPI, Cory and Codie tackled all the challenges that came with engineering school and in their careers since. Although rewarding in several aspects, it was an eye opening experience of all there is to miss about the outdoor lifestyle. It became apparent that the passion and values found within the outdoor communities are truly one of a kind. More than ever, it was clear that being an outdoorsmen is so much more than the fish you catch or the deer you harvest. It’s about the endless journey that gets you there and the outdoor community that you share it with. Built upon these ideals, The True North was born.
As any outdoorsmen knows, it would be impossible to fully share our story here. A good hunting or fishing story is always best explained next to a fire or with a beer in hand. We encourage everyone to reach out and tell us your own stories and hopefully learn a little more of what makes us all a part of The True North.
